One of PhilmSmith's key strategies is the development of quality projects both internally and with other partners. Phil has studied a number of writing courses, spends what time he can writing (or rewriting, as it should more appropriatly be called) himself and developing various ideas for tv series, feature films and shorts. It is through the exciting stages of writing and concept design that trully amazing work can be concieved, and at PhilmSmith, there is an understanding of the journey undertaken to unearth a true gem. As PhilmSmith expands, it is a key aim in the companies development to gather and nurture these stories for production, and to share opportunities with our collaborators.

Crooked Mick of the Speewah is only just completed as a short, but already the question is being asked "What are you going to do with it now?". At present, Crooked Mick is being developed as a children's feature film, but we are still looking into the idea of it as a tv series. That's about all that can be said on it at this stage, as we are currently meeting with potential partners to discuss that very question. More news here soon. Oh, and if you havn't caught the film on the festival circut yet, the script is below so you can ruin the ending. Have a look at the website at http://www.CrookedMick.com

Before Matrix, there was SIVE (Self Imposed Virtual Environment). Using Stop-Motion (reality) and CGI (VR) this film attempted to squash too many ideas into a short time. The script went through many redrafts, with too many cooks & suffered as a result - still, an interesting spin on the genre. Writen by Phil Smith based on his original idea. Script edited by Wendy Chandler (producer) Chris Gardner, Ben Walsh and Mark Williams (co-animators/designers)

Five minute episodes for the 3 - 5 year old age group, with wacky animal characters from the farm and the Australian bush. Each animated episode would be told in song, with the characters troubleshooting a particular problem (and probably with very little success). Fantastic entertainment for young kids! Currently working on the pilot episode script and concept artwork.
